Welcome back to another episode of the Dental Billing Podcast. I'm your host, erika Aguilar, and friends, this is a different episode. This is a different style. This episode captures well, let me back up. Let me back up. I just recently hosted my first ever mastermind.
Speaker 1:So for those of you that are not familiar with what a mastermind is, it's when you get together with other entrepreneurs, like-minded individuals, and the whole purpose of the mastermind is to elevate your business. Your business gets put in the hot seat. You talk about challenges, you talk about opportunities. A lot of times in a mastermind, other business owners can identify blind spots that you don't see because you're stuck in the minutia. You're just stuck thinking about how to grow, what strategies to execute, and sometimes you don't think outside of the box. So the mastermind is designed to kind of shake you up and help your business grow. And, oh my god, can I just say I am still on cloud nine.
Speaker 1:I wanted to give you a brief rundown about this particular episode because it's very special to me and I could not think of anywhere else to share this dream come true than with all of you who have supported the podcast over the years. So shout out to my loyal listeners who have been following me and encouraging me throughout the years. Some of you have even followed me from my previous podcast, front Office on Fire, and continued to follow me here on the Dental Billing Podcast. A little background on this episode. A little background on this episode. So you're going to hear about nine I'd say nine to ten minutes of a moment that I captured when I realized that my dream was coming true. It was a moment that I had to break out the good old audio recorder on my phone and capture the butterflies. It was an incredible moment of a dream turning into reality and I've had those moments, as throughout my entrepreneurial career I've had certain things come true. Sometimes I was ready for the opportunities and sometimes I just was not ready for the greatness of the opportunity, but that doesn't mean that I didn't learn from the lesson.
Speaker 1:In the first segment you're going to hear me capture the moment, the reality of this dream coming true, though it is a mastermind. We rented an Airbnb in Dallas, texas. We all got together, we bonded and we really deep dived into each business of each attendee. The second part, which is the longer lengthier part of the podcast. The second part, which is the longer lengthier part of the podcast is the final day, right before we're all going to check out of our Airbnb, and we just recap the feelings. You know what we learned and the nuggets that we're taking away from the mastermind. I think that all of you listening could have some key takeaways just from the recap alone, but I thought it was special because I captured the moment when I realized this is happening and then I captured the moments when we recapped after it actually happened. So I hope you enjoy this episode of the Dental Billing Podcast and I look forward to our next episode together.
Speaker 1:I just had to hop on. This is actually a quick recording from my phone. I wanted to hop on and capture the moment I am in right now. I am in a moment of gratitude and living have always wanted to host a mastermind group of like-minded female dentalpreneurs and at the end of last year I was hosting an event in West Palm Beach at the Seattle Study Club. Hosting an event in West Palm Beach at the Seattle Study Club Shout out to Dr Boaz for having me there as your guest speaker. It was so fun.
Speaker 1:So during that time I had a conversation with one of my clients and we were talking about her growth and how we saw that she was going to hit her goal of $1 million before the end of the year. Not only did she hit her goal, she exceeded it at $1.4 million. So super excited about that. We talked about just getting together in her town in Dallas, texas, just for the two of us to mastermind, to really just hone in on each other's businesses and set expectations, elevate whatever needed to be elevated in the business and really support and empower each other. And in that I got to thinking about the other awesome, powerful women that I know in the dentalpreneur space who have 10 or more years of experience to bring into the mastermind so that we could all learn from each other, to bring into the mastermind, so that we could all learn from each other. So I reached out to a few ladies, got some yeses and ultimately it dwindled down to about two more who are fully committed. So, though this is a tiny moment, it is having a huge impact on the trajectory of my business and feeling supported by women who have been there, done that. We can all share experiences, both good and bad, and elevate each other to help each other reach our goals.
Speaker 1:I am so excited about the level of commitment that I have from the other Mastermind members and the fact that we are putting this together. We are hosting this Mastermind in Dallas, texas, in just a couple weeks. I just got off the phone with one of the ladies that's going to be joining us and I cannot tell you how excited I am to enter this level of my entrepreneurial journey. This is something that I have dreamt about doing since I learned about what a mastermind is. I experienced my first mastermind back in 2018 with Natalie Ekdahl. She was the host of the Biz Chicks podcast and ultimately, natalie became my business coach and I learned so much from her. But also by attending a couple of masterminds both by Natalie and other business coaches, I know how impactful being in a room full of other like-minded individuals who have shared the same journey or a similar journey and can offer powerful feedback while focusing on your business. So, just so excited. I wanted to capture this moment and share it with you, because I can't tell you how many years I have dreamt about doing this and I'm just full of butterflies and excitement.
Speaker 1:Life is not perfect, but I have worked very hard to get to this point. Our billing company is growing every week and we are adding new clients, we are adding new billers and I'm just so excited about the results we're seeing for our clients and I am in awe of how much we have made progress over the last six months. I'm not going to get into how 2024 went, but I am going to do a 2024 in review in another episode because I feel like there's a lot that some of you can learn from other people's journeys. Right, there are mistakes that we can avoid. There are lessons to be learned by following the clues of other people's success, and when you are coachable, when you are an individual who's willing to learn from their mistakes, then I think that that's what it takes and that's what makes you into a better business owner. Progress over perfection that is my mantra and on the days where I feel like I didn't accomplish much, I will reflect on the tiniest, little ounce of progress that we made and I will give myself that credit and allow myself to feel appreciative of that little, tiny bit of progress that we made, because progress over perfection always how much progress we have made with our tiny but mighty little team as we continue to grow and expand into the dental billing market.
Speaker 1:Thank you so much for all of your support. You're encouraging emails, text messages and the direct messages that I get on social media. Everyone has been extremely supportive, and that's what drives me to continue to try and deliver relevant content on this podcast, because I want to make sure that what we deliver, though, is not always the most popular opinion, but it is the most up-to-date and relevant for your career. So, once again, I just wanted to capture this moment. I truly could not think about any other place. I wanted to share this moment, but with all of you who have been so supportive over the years.
Speaker 1:If you've been listening since the beginning, since the very cringey or cringeworthy episode I don't know if you guys have listened to the first episodes of this podcast, but they are so cringe-worthy because the editing is horrible. It's still not perfect, but it is what it is right, and that's why I leave it up. So many times I've wanted to take those original episodes down, because every time I listen to them, I cringe with the lack of editing, with the poor editing and all the things in between, but I don't, because I continue to get that feedback. A lot of you have told me how you have binge listened to episodes on my podcast, and I can't tell you how happy that makes me, because I try my very best to give you the best and most relevant information.
Speaker 1:As I said and it truly does come from my heart it comes from a place of service. I do not expect anything in return. This is something that has always been very true, near and dear to my heart. The journey has always started with dental billing. It's been a very long journey, one that has afforded me many opportunities. I had to capture this moment. I feel like I'm just rambling now, but I am so grateful for all of you that listen and support this podcast. We will continue to put out relevant content and hopefully help you evolve as dental billing continues to evolve.
Speaker 1:And if there's one thing that I plan on really diving deep on this year, there's going to be two main messages. One is going to be stop putting everything you do on a claim form, and we're going to dive deep into that topic in probably a series of podcast episodes, because there are so many people that still believe that you have to put everything you do on a claim form, and that is just not true in today's dental billing era. Two, we are also going to talk about incorporating diagnosis codes on a claim form. You guys have heard me talk about this probably for years now. Although it's still not a requirement by the mainstream guys, it is starting to be a requirement with the self-funded plans. So I want to talk about that a lot more and we're going to have a lot more discussions and interviews and you're going to see a lot happening with Fortune Billing Solutions, the billing company that I'm running.
Speaker 1:We are adding a dentist to the staff as a dental director. That will be announced here fairly soon and again had to capture the moment. I'm in such a moment of gratitude and I just wanted to share that with you. So thank you, dr Pearson. Manny, welcome to the Dental Billing Podcast. We had the best weekend.
Speaker 2:We sure did. It was amazing. Thank you.
Speaker 3:Thank you for having us, thank you, thank you for coming.
Speaker 1:We were just talking about this, how this has been a dream to host a mastermind. I participated in masterminds myself with other business coaches and I know how impactful they've been, not only in the mastermind, like the things that you learn about yourself or the things that are put up like kind of like a mirror, because that's what you guys did to me this weekend is put a mirror in front of me and the things that I I was really dodging about myself. You you basically said, no, this is you and this is what you need to do, and I really appreciate that because I really do. I mean, I know I have this podcast, which is in last time I checked 42 countries. That is a form of putting myself out there, but I still have a big fear of judgment and that was the mirror that was held up to me in the mastermind and that's going to be huge for me to get over that hurdle, you know. So I appreciate that.
Speaker 1:That's, you know, that's why I wanted to do it. The selfish reason was, you know, so that I could grow. And then I had you two amazing ladies come on board and we just did some discovery work about ourselves, about our business, and I think, dr Pearson, when you had this idea of mind trash we all have that, we all have mind trash, we all have that, we all have mind trash. And that's exactly where I realized my mind trash is fear of judgment, fear of just being put out there. So I don't know what. Manny, how do you feel about that?
Speaker 2:Thank you. I want to say thank you so much for this weekend. I have built the most amazing friendships. Thank you, dr Pearson, for opening up and being my new friend in Texas. I'm always looking for new friends, so thank you and I do agree with that, erica on this entire mindset that you, you know, brought to me personally. Like Erica said, I'm always so worried, not so much on judgment Mine is failing. So I did love when I was put in the hot seat by you two ladies and I was actually considering taking a position that really was not going to make me happy.
Speaker 1:That was a breakthrough.
Speaker 2:That was the biggest breakthrough for me ever, because you two ladies said absolutely not, you're worth so much more and you will not be able to participate in this group.
Speaker 1:This group is for entrepreneurs only female entrepreneurs that want to just go in that direction and when you said you talked about that position. I got upset. I know you did. I love it Because I see your potential and I was like well, if you take that job, you can't be in this group, you can't sit with us.
Speaker 2:I just felt like my little sister said you can't play with me.
Speaker 2:And I was just like no, absolutely not. I want to be dressed as big and wonderful as you too. I look up to you. You both are amazing women, and I am so excited to be here because I feel like there's so many amazing women out there that don't know that they're amazing and they struggle with different things. We all struggle with different things in our lives, so it was such an impactful weekend for me that you loved on me and you called me out.
Speaker 1:we all need that we all did that to each other. Yes, and that was the best part. And I think when we laid the ground rules in the beginning, when we said, okay, this is all about empowerment and we're going to be brutally honest but kind yes, and you both were brutally honest with me, manny I thought about what kept me up last night was your words of I don't think you know what you're worth. It really got me thinking and I don't want to cry, but it really impacted me because it's been a theme, a message that has been coming through different people. But I care so much and you know we're so close outside of the group, you know it really impacted me. So I appreciate that you put that mirror up in front of me once again and, um, you know, I, I love that. Yes.
Speaker 2:Thank you. You're welcome, Erica. I just see such big potential in you and Dr Pearson and myself. So, that's what I took on this weekend. It was just amazing. I couldn't sleep last night because I was so excited with these great ideas. But for the first time in my life, I actually had everything compartmentalized in my brain Like okay, this is what you're going to do. It wasn't just a hundred ideas flowing, it was three ideas and I knew exactly what I was going to do.
Speaker 3:So thank you, I can't wait. Yes, thank you.
Speaker 2:Dr Pearson for another thing. When I kept saying something, you kept saying write it down, write it down, write it down and I was just like yes. So then I'm going to take that. Every time I have my idea, I'm going to write it down yes, yes, yes.
Speaker 3:And you know to talk about mind trash, mindset I have a coach that introduced me to that and when you actually verbalize all those things that are floating in your head that are telling you you're not good enough, you can't do this, you know it really does sabotage. It sabotages your success, it sabotages what you're thinking and I really had to work on that to you know, to recognize it because it had become a way of life. You know verbally beating yourself up. You know some of the things that I would say to myself I would never say to anybody else. And here I am ruminating over it all the time, and you know the concept of verbalizing it, writing it down and then, on the flip side, what's the opposite? You know, cause the mind trash. It's not the truth.
Speaker 1:No.
Speaker 3:What's the truth? And then when you start writing down the truth, you're like yeah, I am, I can do this. Yes, I do have the capability. Yes and um. I think that part of you know this mastermind, and verbalizing all that mind trash and getting it out allows us to be vulnerable and let those creative juices flow and really be able to identify like the direction that you really want to go in.
Speaker 1:We, and we've always been these people this person, this person that we've always believed that we want to be right.
Speaker 1:But I do believe I was thinking back to my own circumstances. You know, as as a child, as growing up, and you know what I was told about money and the relationship with money. I was told, you know we don't have enough for that or um, you know we got to save and save your money. I was never taught to invest and you know, just thinking back, like you, you really do just kind of get stuck. You really do just kind of get stuck and unless you surround yourself with people who want the same, they want to grow.
Speaker 3:Everybody has mind trash, we're all dealing with it.
Speaker 1:But that does not mean you have to stay stuck.
Speaker 3:Yes.
Speaker 2:I do love the quote that you're only as strong as the five closest people you surround yourself with, and I love that quote and I always try to surround myself with like amazing human beings, but it's hard. It's hard to surround yourself with like very strong people that are going to elevate you. So I think, coming here this weekend and meeting the two of you and even having our little guest that and they elevated to like whoa, I feel like I'm this complete high, like I've had 20 cups of coffee. Isn't that the truth?
Speaker 1:I mean, I'm so excited Leading up to this. I don't know if I'm going to release that part, but you and I had a conversation probably two weeks prior to the mastermind, and I was just confirming that we were still on because, at minimum, when we first started talking about this it was you and I and I said why don't I come out to Texas? We'll rent an Airbnb and we'll just sit here and talk about each other's business. And then a few others joined us, and then some people couldn't make it and it turned out to be just the three of us. And then Jessica joined us. At the end of the day, martel joined us. You know, she kind of joined us virtually, but I remember feeling so excited.
Speaker 1:I felt like I now I understand the term cloud nine because I felt elevated, like I felt high and I recorded it and I captured the moment and I my intention is to release that in another episode. I might put it in this episode, um, but I I was saying to the voice recorder I have to capture this moment because a dream is coming true, like my dream is coming true. I've been wanting to do this for years and I just got off the phone with another member and we are doing this Like I just was so excited and then when, when it was here, I was in awe of of us just sitting here masterminding and breaking down each other's businesses and we had some really good breakthroughs.
Speaker 3:Oh, yes, absolutely, and.
Speaker 1:I think you know putting each other's brains on each other's businesses really help help to elevate. That's why it's called elevate mastermind, right, so we're elevating each other. But I love the accountability yes, that's the piece that when we meet in one month and we are going to hold each other accountable, because now we have a game plan that's intended to take our business to the next level, even if it's just a smaller level. You know just, we're going forward with progress, right? I'm just? I'm still in awe. I am too.
Speaker 3:I, you know, to be honest with you. I like we talked about this. I am so full of ideas. I am like all over the place. I'm like what about this, what about this? And I know my team is like whenever we have our meetings they're like well, we haven't even done all this other stuff that you talked about. Now you want to do this. But this mastermind really gave me clarity, and that's what I really need Not just clarity, but action steps to actually really drill down and get to where I want to be. And when I'm at the office, I can never have that isolated time to actually do what I need to do, because they're paging me, they want me to go and do this. I can't even walk down the hallway and remember what I'm going to get, you know, or who I was going to say.
Speaker 1:Then you randomly end up in the front office and you're like what am I doing Exactly?
Speaker 3:Exactly. And then it's like when I get off of work, all the calls that I couldn't return I've got to try to do that on my commute home. And then when I get home I've got to do home stuff and then by the time I have a little bit of time to myself, I'm exhausted. I don't have the energy and this mastermind, this opportunity to have just uninterrupted time just to talk about how we can move forward in our businesses. It's invaluable. I can't even quantify it, I can't even put like a price tag on it.
Speaker 1:Oh, that just gave you the chill. I needed this. Me too, I needed this.
Speaker 2:And I think for me I took on I love I'm not really sure which one of you said this the artificial harmony, that's like the big thing. I think, and you know, as I am a co-owner and I'm helping practices, there's so many artificial harmony out there that I was just not aware of Teams with artificial harmony correct and I think that is just like for me, like wow, I am actually.
Speaker 2:I have this, you know, gift that I was given to have high EQ. You know, emotional intelligence. I can help people, so that made me really excited.
Speaker 1:That is your superpower, man. You really, you really do understand EQ, and for those of you out there listening that don't know what EQ is, that is emotional intelligence. I'm not exactly sure what that stands for I think it's emotional quotient. Yeah, emotional, but I think we call it emotional intelligence, and so it. Yeah, I didn't know that either. I was like what does that stand for? We need a Dr Pearson, I know, I know. So you guys have to understand that all weekend, dr Pearson has been the voice of reason.
Speaker 1:Yes, and she kept us on track because if you let, manny and I, we would just go off track.
Speaker 2:We're all catching butterflies.
Speaker 1:And for you guys I don't know how many of you guys know this out there in podcast land, but I am the queen of shiny object syndrome. You know, you give me one topic and then I'll move on to the next. So thank you, dr Pearson, for keeping us on track.
Speaker 2:We all need a Dr Pearson in our life.
Speaker 1:It was definitely fun, but you know, I want to talk a little bit about you know just a little bit about each other's. We are a dental billing company. I realized through a survey that I did with my Instagram followers, who are very spoiled, as you said, dr Pearson, I surveyed and virtually nobody knows that I own a dental billing company. Virtually nobody knows that I own a dental billing company and we talked about you know how dental billing is needed.
Speaker 3:Yes.
Speaker 1:You know, account receivables are a mess right now in almost every office that I see. And that's a challenge for me, because when we talk about mind trash, my mind trash was fear of judgment.
Speaker 1:And that is preventing me from really letting people know what my company does. And so in the accountability meeting we have, I have, you guys have assigned me certain goals and I have to produce results and those goals are going to produce the desired result. Like I'm going to get new clients because of the homework assignment that you guys have given me that I would not have done without you. I know in a month I have to show you the things that we talked about, the strategies, and I have to show that I executed and give you results, and for me, I don't like letting people down, so I will definitely work on that.
Speaker 2:That's good.
Speaker 1:So you know, that's that for me. That's what I'm taking home. I'm really excited about all the homework I have and you know I just want to like hit the ground running. I can't wait until tomorrow morning. So, dr Pearson, what did you take?
Speaker 3:Okay, so first of all, let me just say that your company is amazing.
Speaker 1:Thank you, that's right, you are yes.
Speaker 3:Yes, and I will tell you that, working with you and you know, because I know how to do dentistry, that's what I went to school for and I know that when I'm working, I'm supposed to be reimbursed for that. But what I didn't realize is that when my claims aren't sent properly, no one's following up that my AR is growing, and if it hadn't been for you walking me through the basics and explaining to me what to look for, I would still be in the same mess that I've always been in. And just that small, I mean, and that's just a little bit of what you've done for me and my office and my practice.
Speaker 3:You're amazing.
Speaker 1:You're amazing and I don't think that you know how amazing you are, see, and just that, right there, I wanted to just go inside of myself.
Speaker 2:And you know like it just.
Speaker 3:I don't thank you so much for saying that, but I need to much for saying that. I mean, but you have to get better. I mean. I'm just saying like it has been life changing for me, for my team, because now they're able to focus on direct patient care.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 3:And you know, I didn't even know that, that we were struggling in that area. I knew there were some struggles, but bringing you and bringing your team in to help me with that, our productivity has increased exponentially and so, yeah, I had some goals in your business. Help me get there.
Speaker 1:So what was your goal for 2024?
Speaker 3:I remember this because we sat down, we were you.
Speaker 1:I remember we met in 2023, in 2024. You allowed us to come on board yeah, in January of 2024 and we sat down and talked about goals and you said I want to do $1 million this year.
Speaker 3:Right.
Speaker 1:And what did you?
Speaker 3:do? We did 1.4. Amazing. I love that and I want to say that we had never even been close, wow, to a million. And I will also say I also have another coach. Yes, and they helped me put a lot of the systems in.
Speaker 1:Shout out to Dr Anissa yes, yes, delivery wow.
Speaker 3:But I will also say that with the two of you dynamic women coaches, let's just be clear. I mean, I wouldn't have done it. I wouldn't have done it without you guys and just changing my thinking about what I'm here to do. You know, I'm here more than just doing dentistry. You know, as an entrepreneur, I'm working with a team and I'm leading them, and we have created a wonderful atmosphere at our office.
Speaker 1:You really have I want to chime in there because you really have and there's one thing to be said about regular. I have other clients that I meet with on a monthly basis, as you know, manny. You know we were doing that for a minute, but there's one thing to be said about meeting with the team via Zoom, right, but when you are actually in an office, you get to feel the culture, you get to feel if there's tension. You get to see and feel all of that what you have done in your office. I mean you went from day and night because I saw the team. I met the team you had when we first came on board. They're no longer with you, but the team you have now is like the dream team yes and the culture that you have created in your office.
Speaker 1:Everybody's pulling north, everybody, from the hygienist, your two wonderful hygienists. Yeah, yeah, shout out to Lauren and Jessica. But you know we've got. You have such a great culture and I think I said that while you, while I was there, I was like your culture is great, like everything else is fixable, but when you have artificial harmony in your culture, it's very hard to it's fixable, but there's, you know, hard conversations. You guys are just moving along.
Speaker 3:And again, I have to, you know, really shout out to Dr Holmes, to you, because I've been doing it for a while. I've been doing it for a while when you're on that hamster wheel and you're like I'm working, I'm moving, I'm doing, but I'm not going anywhere. And I really believe that 2024 was the breakthrough year and I started to get it, but I couldn't do it by myself. I needed help and to segue into the mastermind, you know, really having an opportunity with closest people, you know, you ladies have created an atmosphere, that number one I not being judged, yes, you know. And then also one of my, you know, mind trash things is the fear of failing or not being successful.
Speaker 3:And what I realized, even just talking to you ladies this over this weekend, is, if I keep defining things of what I don't want, it makes it difficult for me to really identify the things that I do want. And you can't move forward saying I don't want this, I don't want that. We have to verbalize, we have to claim what we want and I do believe, as women, you know, sometimes it really is difficult to do that because we pour into the lives of so many other people and their wants, their needs come before us, and in business, you know, it's not even selfish. It's what we have to do to be successful entrepreneurs we have to couch things in terms of what we want and figure it out how to get it, and that's really what happened here too.
Speaker 1:That's exactly what happened. We talked about challenges, we talked about hurdles and and strategy and execution. So I mean I I really appreciate. You know everything I got out of the mastermind, I feel clarity.
Speaker 3:I like that's the word that I really have is I know what my goal is and. I see a clear path to do that.
Speaker 1:And that's what.
Speaker 3:I that's that's what I've needed.
Speaker 2:That makes me so happy, Me too Amazing Nanny what did you get?
Speaker 2:So I think I'm in a really interesting phase in my life where my kids are growing, my husband's getting ready to retire from private practice and I want to finally be this amazing entrepreneur that I'm going to do. Growth change that's like the big thing I wanted to do. So I wasn't really sure where I wanted to go with my business, but you ladies helped me define exactly what I wanted to do, and you also made me realize, too, that I have poured so much Thank you for saying that, dr Pearson that I poured so much into everyone else my family every practice.
Speaker 2:I've grown but I've never poured that same energy into myself. So I think my big thing for the year is that I want to pour into Manny. What does Manny want? How is she going to grow and how is she going to change dentistry, change practices, help other practices same like Dr Pearson's, you know get them to their goal. If you would be here present you could actually feel Dr Pearson's energy. It's like so amazing, so exciting so logical, so logical.
Speaker 2:And air this big smile like hey, we did this together. You know, I, um, I do believe that um, dr pearson said this this weekend um, if it makes you money, it costs you nothing.
Speaker 1:Yes, uh, so I I just yes, yes, we got that from dr dr home so thank you for sharing it, thank you. But you know what, shout out to dr anisa, because that is so true and I I appreciate that she puts that out there. If it makes you money, it costs you nothing yes.
Speaker 1:And that is so true because the mindset of a lot of practice owners, when they're thinking about investing in coaching or, you know, like potentially your services, that's the first thing they're going to think is the cost Right. But we need to think about what we're going to get in return?
Speaker 2:Yes, so I do love that. I was so excited about that and I'm just excited. I'm just excited about life and I'm excited to be here with you, ladies. I'm excited what the future holds. I'm excited about just helping others and doing what I passionately love to do, and that's helping others and growing people. And I'm excited about the next phase of my life and I'm just real excited, excited.
Speaker 3:And can I say one thing? I mean, manny, you're talking about everybody else's energy, but your energy is amazing. I mean really, mean really, you know some of the things that you've shared, about how you have so much insight in. Like, when you're talking to people, you can, you know, really determine what their personality is. Then you can make changes on how to communicate with them. I feel like that's such, like that's a superpower. Yeah, that is so amazing.
Speaker 1:I feel like that's such like that's a superpower.
Speaker 3:Yeah, that is so amazing. I'm like, I want to be like that.
Speaker 2:Oh, you're so sweet. You're so sweet. I think it's just a superpower of mine. I just was raised by someone with superpowers, so I think his superpowers, which is my dad, shout out to my daddy in heaven. He would be so proud of me being here today. But that's my superpower. It comes from him. It stems from loving humans. I love humans. That's beautiful. Yeah, I don't judge humans. I love humans. That's just who I am. Yeah.
Speaker 3:And that's part of the reason why you're going to be so successful. I love that. I love that. Teach me.
Speaker 1:So let's talk a little bit about the next mastermind, which we're planning in June, newport Beach, california. So anybody wanting to join the next mastermind, we will be opening up an application process for that. So let's talk about the type of women that we invite to the mastermind. You know, um, I, I really think that we want to be surrounded by other women that want to empower other women. You don't have to be um in dentistry per se, but because we are dental dental preneurs, um, it's probably going to comprise mostly of dental female dental preneurs, um, but you know, what do you? What would you say about that?
Speaker 3:I think that really, the mastermind really needs to include women who want to grow, women who are ready to stretch and get to that next level. I think that, where we all want to go, there's going to be some challenges and there's going to be some difficulties, and we have to be able to be supportive. And part of being supportive is, you know, being brutally honest in a kind way, and also helping others remove those roadblocks that are preventing them from getting to that next level.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and I think with growth comes conflict. Yes and I think we have to really not have a negative connotation about conflict. You know, like I think that we really need to understand that without conflict we cannot grow, and so understanding that and we need to define that conflict doesn't necessarily mean negative throw down.
Speaker 3:I'm going to argue you down or debate, but there's a little bit of a rub. Yes, there has to be a little bit of a rub to get you to the next level.
Speaker 1:Yes, exactly, and you know if I used to do this exercise with my students I used to teach dental front office and we'd have 20 students in a classroom and when we would start to get to the practice management um, uh, like a mini HR uh session the first thing we would start with is I want you to write conflict on one side of the paper, and then I want you to I'm going to time you for three minutes and on the other side, I want you to write every word, every emotion that you affiliate, associate with conflict, and nobody ever put growth. It was always shouting, fighting and so I know that most people think about conflict, because I did this hundreds and hundreds of times, and I even did it in some of my workshops, and it's very rare to find people that think about conflict as growth.
Speaker 2:Right, wow, that's interesting, very interesting. Yeah, I think too, it doesn't have to necessarily be this group for someone that's always positive and manifesting and being hurrah hurrah woman, because there is some woman out there I personally know one that was a little negative human being, but because she's been surrounding herself with someone like me, I've helped her grow. So I think this group would be amazing for someone that wants to change and wants to better themselves and surround themselves with these women again, because you're going to become who you surround yourself with. So I think it's just important that if you even just want a little change in your life and a little change in your business, this is the right place to be. You'll be saved, um, you'll be put on the hot seat.
Speaker 2:But it's amazing, the hot seat is amazing it's amazing, it's the best thing that's ever happened to me. So, um, I just um, I'm excited about this, um, this group, um, and you know, it's just nice to uh be um accountability, you know, and I'm excited that you're going to hold me accountable. One month from today, we're going to have this meeting and I know things have to be done, so the work has to get put in. We can't just sit around and talk about it, crossing the T's and the I's.
Speaker 1:Yeah, just really putting the work in now, and and that's the only way we're going to get the results is to put the work in. So I'm really excited about that, like you are, manny, and if you had one thing that you want to share as your own message, not necessarily to potential mastermind, but to the listeners, if you want an inspirational quote, anything that you want to share, you know, I think we can close out with that. Mine is going to be to those of you listening, that dream of being your own boss one day. Keep dreaming, and you've got to continue to believe that it's going to happen, but it's not going to happen overnight and you're going to have to put the work in. So when I learned this quote, it really kept me going and I have it in front of my desk and it says Dream without limits, because I catch myself dreaming with limits sometimes. So I will always look at this little quote that says dream without limits.
Speaker 3:So, dr Pearson, Okay, so I'm so excited. I thought you were going to say this one, but you said yesterday fortune favors the bold.
Speaker 3:Yes, and I have to tell you. When you said that, I was like yes, yes, yes, it is true. For a long while I felt very stagnant, to the point that I don't even know if I really want to be a dentist anymore. Wow, and I felt like I was doing the same thing. I mean I was doing different things and I was getting the same result yeah thing. And I mean I was doing different things and I was getting the same result, yeah. And when I made the decision to hire you to go into coaching, that was a bold step, because I always felt like I don't have enough money to do that.
Speaker 1:I can't afford that.
Speaker 3:But it was a bold move and I have grown exponentially, not just my business, but my team has grown. I have grown. It's spilled over into my relationships with my family, with my husband, with my children, and fortune favors the bold, and so my whole thing is, if you're considering this mastermind and you are out of your comfort zone, be bold.
Speaker 1:Be bold.
Speaker 2:Be bold.
Speaker 1:Join one session.
Speaker 2:Yes.
Speaker 1:Do something that's going to make the needle move. I'd love to see all of you there.
Speaker 2:I really would, so yeah thank you for that, yeah, that's that's a powerful message.
Speaker 1:Okay, manny you're.
Speaker 2:So, if you know me, you know I love quotes, so it's really hard for me to pick one quote, but this kept coming up for some reason to me. Um, and this quote says attract what you expect, reflect what you desire. Become what you you respect, mirror what you admire.
Speaker 3:Oh, can you repeat that?
Speaker 2:Attract what you expect, reflect what you desire, become what you respect, mirror what you admire.
Speaker 1:Wow.
Speaker 2:And I want to mirror you, two beautiful women.
Speaker 3:Oh, that's so sweet.
Speaker 2:So I am excited to be here, and if you want to mirror successful entrepreneurs, we're your girls. Yes, we are, and I think attracting what you expect is so important, because it's an expectation that we have, and reflecting what you desire is the biggest thing for me. Reflect what you desire, manifest what you desire and your dreams is the biggest thing for me. Reflect what you desire, manifest what you desire, um, and your dreams are going to come true. And just like Erica said is uh, don't give up on the hope of being an entrepreneur.
Speaker 2:Erica and I met 16 years ago and I've been having this conversation with her for 16 years and I'm finally here, so thank you for reminding me that it's been 16 long years and here I am and I thank you, ladies, thank you for being in my life for 16 years.
Speaker 1:It's been amazing and, dr Pearson, I'm so grateful to have you in my life. Not only have we in the mastermind, you know, it wasn't just about business, it was empowering each other and personal things as well, and I think that this is definitely something that I needed in my life and that's why I selfishly wanted to create a mastermind. I needed this, my soul needed this, and I don't feel lonely anymore because as an entrepreneur, it's so lonely and you can't. There's not a lot of people that you can relate to about the struggles, about the um, the wins.
Speaker 1:That's really what's where I was wanting to create this so we could talk about these big wins that we have in our business that you know you can't talk to family about. In my experience, you know you share a win and it's as I, you know, as I said before, it's like, oh okay, well, you know your business must be doing good, money's going well. Can I borrow $5,000? You know? So it's those types of things that I wanted to create the space so that we could share that and we all understand what that, what that win or or loss or whatever it is that we experience feels like. So thank you, ladies. So so much for joining the Mastermind. I am so. My heart is so full, you know, my tank is so full. My love tank, my appreciation tank, it's so full right now.
Speaker 3:Well, I just want to say thank you for having this bold idea and then moving forward. You know, because a lot of times you know we have all of these wonderful ideas and we don't execute. So thank you.
Speaker 2:Thank you, Erica. We appreciate you so much.
Speaker 1:I cannot wait for Newport beach.
Speaker 3:Yes, it's going to be amazing. Yes, it's my birthday month. Oh.
Speaker 1:I believe we're actually going to be doing the Mastermind on my birthday. Yeah, oh, yeah so it's the 27th of June yes, the 27th of June, friday when we arrive at the Airbnb, which will be right on the beach. Oh yeah, so that Friday night is my birthday, so we're going to find a nice spot to go and have a nice dinner and celebrate.
Speaker 2:And what I love about being in an Airbnb like this is that we really connect at a different level, yes, than everyone being in their own rooms at hotels and being ready. And this is the best because, you know, we've gone to bed early one night and stayed up late the next night, so I love it. And then we continue talking and talking. I mean, we've been talking about our businesses for 20 hours now and we're not tired.
Speaker 2:And we're not tired because we're still tired and we're ready to go to work tomorrow and hit the road and we're just excited.
Speaker 1:So yeah Well thank you, ladies, and thank you everyone for listening and let's elevate. Oh yeah, okay, All right. So one, two, three, let's elevate.
